My Valentines

First, I know I am really behind on blogging. Life with three kids and working at least 40hrs per week is really kicking my butt right now.

We have had a beautiful winter, but the past two weeks (when it has been cooler), all of the kids made a trip to the urgent care. Campbell went first with a fever, Lillian went second with a fever that lasted seven days, and Kerrington went third due to an ear infection. I wanted to have three healthy children at the same time. It has taken approximately two weeks to get to this point, but I am happy to say all of us are doing well.

This year for Valentine's, I decided that I did not want to go and purchase the ordinary cards in the boxes at the store. I wanted to spend time with the girls, and make cards using things we had at home. Kerrington needed Valentine's for day care at Nana's house, and Lillian needed them for school as well as Nana's. So I went to work searching for ideas. I narrowed it down to fish bowls, recycled crayons, and lollipops with special lips and mustaches. We all worked really hard, and had lots of fun in the making.

To make the crayons, I had a heart shape muffin pan. I gathered up all the old crayons we had laying around the house that were broken or worn down. We peeled all the paper off, then broke the crayons.  The girls really enjoyed breaking the crayons. We piled the crayons in muffin pan, and baked for 10mins. I found a heart printable online, and glued the crayon to the printable.  The girls loved it, and thought they had brand new crayons!

Second on the list: Lollipops! They girls love lollipops. I decided to add lips and mustaches to the sticks. I got some foam and cut out lips and mustaches. This was so cute when we got it all done. The girls were, of course, the first ones to try it out.

Last, was an idea I saw on Pintrest. I printed off fish bowls online, put them in a baggie, and added Swedish fish. They were so cute!

It was so fun and rewarding to bring out my crafty side, and help the girls with their Valentine's Day cards. We had a lot of fun. I'm so lucky to have my two girls. Happy Valentine's Day!
